Henry Cecil really needs no introduction but I shall gladly give you some statistics. He has trained 368 Group winners, 35 Classic winners of which 4 are Derby winners (Slip Anchor, Reference Point, Commander In Chief & Oath), 8 Oaks winners (Light Shift, Oh So Sharp, Diminuendo, Snow Bride, Lady Carla, Reams Of Verse, Ramruma & Love Divine), the joint equal record holder for trainers of Oaks winners, 6 One Thousand Guineas winners (One In A Million, Fairy Footsteps, Oh So Sharp, Bosra Sham, Sleepytime & Wince) 2 Two Thousand Guineas winners (Bolkonski & Wollow), 4 St Leger winners (Light Cavalry, Oh So Sharp, Reference Point & Michelozzo). He has had 70 Royal Ascot winners and has been Champion Trainer 10 times. He is one of the most successful trainers the country has ever seen. In 2007 he had 45 winners and 89 placed horses winning a total of over £732,550 of these 4 were Group or Listed winners including Light Shift, winner of the Epsom Oaks and Passage of Time. He has had 11 juvenile winners in 2007 which is a 21% strike rate. In 2008 he aims to have approx 100 horses in training, half of them will be 2 year olds. Jockeys who have ridden for Henry in 2007 include: Ted Durcan, R. Dominguez, Richard Hughes, Johnny Murtagh and Tom Queally. Previous jockeys include the likes of Franki Dettori, Mick Kinane, Steve Cauthen, Lester Piggott, Joe Mercer and Pat Eddery. In 2007 & 2008 he is training Born Tobouggie for The Sticky Wicket Syndicate.
