Author Name:
John Thieme
My research degrees, on Eighteenth-Century Fiction and V.S. Naipaul, are from London University. I held Chairs at the University of Hull and London South Bank University, before coming to teach at UEA in 2002, where I am now a Visiting Professor. Earlier in my career I taught at the Universities of Guyana and North London.
I have broad-based interests in post-colonial studies and more particular interests in Caribbean writing and contemporary Canadian fiction. I edit The Journal of Commonwealth Literature and Manchester University Press's Contemporary World Writers Series.
My current work in progress includes a book on R.K. Narayan and essays on Amitav Ghosh and George Lamming.
